Community Donation Day

Event Date: November 16th, 2010

On the Third Tuesday of each month the Kootenay Co-op donates 1% of total sales to a local non-profit organization in our community.

On Tuesday December 16th the recipient of this month's donation is Books for Kids.

Books for Kids is a fundraising event, now in its fourth year. The event hosts a number of local writers reading from their work and the admittance it by donation. It is a fun evening for all who show up.

The funds raised from this event are used to buy books for underprivileged children in Nelson. The books are included in the Nelson Food Cupboard's Christmas hampers for families with limited resources. The books are selected for each child, age, gender, and preference, wrapped and placed in the hamper for Christmas Morning. Books for the hampers are purchased locally.
